Where to buy crypto or invest from Mexico?

I use these six platforms. Here's what each one is for, what it charges and what the risks are, so you can pick the one that fits you, not the one that pays me the most.

Some links are referral links: if you sign up with them I get a commission at no extra cost to you. GBM+ pays me nothing. ↓

The 4 I recommend

My take on each one

Best to start with crypto in Mexico

Bitso

The simplest way to go from pesos to crypto: deposit via SPEI and buy in minutes.

  • Works in pesos with SPEI
  • Spanish app, beginner friendly
  • Founded in Mexico
  • Higher entry-tier fee than international exchanges
  • Fewer coins available

Best for savings and traditional investing

GBM+

If you want CETES, stocks or funds with a company supervised in Mexico, GBM+ is my pick. It pays me nothing — I recommend it because I use it.

  • Brokerage supervised by the CNBV
  • CETES, Mexican and US stocks, ETFs and funds
  • Low entry amounts
  • Not for crypto
  • Buying USD instruments involves an exchange rate

Best for coin variety

Binance

The world's largest exchange. Useful when you need a coin Bitso doesn't list.

  • Lots of coins and liquidity
  • Low base fee (0.10%)
  • Buy with pesos via P2P
  • No Mexican regulatory oversight
  • Many advanced features that can confuse

Best for automating with AI

Bybit

The exchange I use in my guide to connect Claude and trade with supervision, because its API is clear.

  • API and AI tool integration
  • 0.10% base fee
  • Buy with pesos via P2P
  • No Mexican regulatory oversight
  • Pushes futures hard: avoid them if you're starting out

Bitget and MEXC

Bitget

Similar to Bybit, known for copy trading. Copying traders doesn't guarantee profits.

MEXC

Very low fees and many small or newly listed coins. Those coins are very high risk.

Before you deposit

Safety rules I follow

Turn on 2FA

Use an authenticator app (not SMS) on every account.

Don't keep everything on an exchange

Exchanges can freeze withdrawals, get hacked or go bankrupt. Move what you don't use to your own wallet.

Avoid futures

Leverage can wipe out your account in minutes. Start with spot buying only.

Be wary of huge bonuses

Welcome bonuses have conditions. Read the terms before depositing.

Not financial advice. Crypto is high risk and is not legal tender in Mexico. Foreign platforms are not supervised by Mexican authorities or covered by deposit insurance (IPAB). Only invest what you can afford to lose.

How I make money from this page

Bitso, Binance, Bybit, Bitget and MEXC have referral links: if you sign up with them I get a commission at no extra cost to you. GBM+ has no referral program and I recommend it anyway. The order on this page is based on what each platform is for, not on how much they pay me. Legal & affiliate notice.
